If you’re interested in pursuing an esthetician career, it’s important that you know what to expect when enrolling at your local esthetician school. At Estelle Skin Care & Spa Institute, we offer a nationally accredited esthetician program that puts students on the fast track to becoming an esthetician at a spa, salon, or a number of medical settings. Learn more about our esthetics classes here, or continue reading for more information about what to expect from esthetician school.
Skin Treatments & Procedures
The first thing to know about esthetician school is that it isn’t the same as cosmetology school, nor is it the same as dermatology school. Rather, it lies somewhere between the two, with an emphasis on non-medical skin treatments and procedures. During your time at our esthetics school, you’ll learn the theory and history of esthetics, as well as how this ancient practice has evolved over the centuries. You’ll learn all about the natural vitamins and minerals that are vital for skin health, and how they are incorporated into modern day skincare products and services.
Together, we’ll dive into a variety of facial treatments and techniques, in addition to spa body treatments, like body wraps and back treatments, using only the best skincare products from industry-leading brands. In our classrooms, you’ll get to practice all of these treatments in a hands-on learning environment to perfect your technique and refine your knowledge of skin care. The best part? We’ve partnered with medical esthetics professionals to introduce our students to more advanced skincare procedures — such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and LED light therapy — without raising the cost of tuition.
Body Waxing & Laser
In addition to skincare treatments and procedures, you’ll also learn the foundations of body waxing and eyebrow threading. Our instructors will guide you through the process of full-body waxing, as well as more specific waxing services, like eyebrow waxing and lip waxing. As part of our corrective esthetics program, we also teach students the theory of laser and provide hands-on laser training. With our medical spa partner, you can even get a laser certification to practice in a medical setting.
Makeup & Beauty Treatments
Another main aspect of esthetician school is makeup application and beauty treatments. At Estelle, we offer esthetician classes that explore different makeup applications, such as bridal makeup and smokey eyes. This is where students really get to explore their creative side and perfect their eyeliner application, contouring, eyebrow tinting, and more. We also offer hands-on eyelash extension training where students can obtain their eyelash extension certification and go on to provide both full and volume eyelash extensions for clients.
Business Training
Lots of licensed estheticians go on to start their own practice, which requires some basic knowledge of how to be your own boss. That’s why we offer business training in addition to our esthetics program and medical esthetics training — our goal is to set all of our students up for success when they graduate from Estelle with an esthetician certification. We’ll go over the foundations of running your own practice, in terms of how to market your services and get clients in the door, as well as how to manage finances in your individual practice. We even offer lifelong job placement assistance for our students to ensure that they are always able to find work in their esthetician career.
